Where is the Colorado Basecamp located?

The Colorado Basecamp is located just south of Estes Park, CO and right next to the eastern boundary for Rocky Mountain National Park.  With Longs Peak looming overhead, many postcards have been taken from the property.

What are the Colorado Basecamp facilities like?
Sleeping Quarters - Camping Tents with 3 people per tent (Bunk Beds in Wall Tents with wooden floors available at extra cost.)
Bathhouses - Both men's and women's bathhouses have modern accommodations, which include running water, hot showers, and flush toilets.

What do we eat on an adventure?
We will be eating a variety of nutritionally balanced meals. Each meal is designed to provide the fuel you will need to make it through the day. While at the basecamp, Breakfast and Dinner will be served at the dinning hall and lunch most times will be picnic style/sack lunches, since we will be out participating in the days activity.  If you choose to do a backpacking adventure, all meals on the trail will be prepared in small cooking groups of 3 to 4 people, allowing all the experience of cooking on the trail.

What does a  daily schedule look like?
At the Colorado Basecamp, we start the morning out at an early but reasonable hour with breakfast, clean-up, and preparing for the days activity.  Before we start the days activity we spend 30-40 minutes with quiet time and morning devotions.  Then the rest of the day is taken up with the daily activity, which ends around 4:30.  Allowing time to rest and clean up before dinner.  Early evenings are spent with organized group activities followed by Campfire and Evening Devotions/Gathering. Hit the sack at a reasonable hour to be rested for the next days activity.

What experience/physical condition do I need to participate in the activities?
Christian Adventures works with all types of groups with varying levels of experience.  We have designed all of our adventures in Colorado to enable anyone with a willing spirit and moderate physical condition to participate in our activities.

Group Numbers? Minimums and Maximums?
For most trips the minimum is as low as 8 participants, with maximums depending on type of trip and time of year.

Group Chaperones?  How many, Who?
In addition to our guides,  we desire to have at least one male and female chaperone for each activity group.  If it is an all men's or all women's group, then one like chaperone per activity group would do.  Chaperones must be 18 years of age or older!

Are there different options, activities, and/or schedules for each Adventure?
Yes!  There is some flexibility within our schedule.  We want to maximize your time, to accomplish the goals and purpose of your group.  Please contact the Colorado Basecamp Coordinator to discuss the various options your group may have.

Custom Trips? Do you do custom trips from the Colorado Basecamp?
Yes!
There are many options at the Colorado Basecamp for Custom Trips and are available on request.  Please contact the Colorado Basecamp Coordinator to discus  various Custom Trip possibilities.

Age? How old/young do you have to be to participate in an Adventure?
Participants must, at the least, be going into Eighth Grade.  There is no maximum age limit.  You just need to be young at heart.

Spiritual Focus
Back to Index
Is there Spiritual Focus on the Adventures?
Yes!  We require that there be a Spiritual Focus on all of our trips and adventures.

Who does the Spiritual Focus? CA or Me the group leader?
We prefer to do the Spiritual Focus, however we understand that this is your group and you may have something you would like to do instead.  We can do the Spiritual Focus with your help or you can do the Spiritual Focus with our help.  Our only concern is that there is an intentional Spiritual Focus.  We don't want this to be just "Fun and Adventure", it should also be a time of learning and growing Spiritually.

How is the Spiritual Focus carried out?
When Christian Adventures leads the Spiritual Focus there is a set time for morning and evening devotionals.
Morning Devotions - We take 30 minutes after breakfast and focus on selected Bible passages.  We encourage that the morning time is spent individually in quietness, reading/studying the Bible passages, and praying.  We will then gather together and share briefly as a group in closing the morning devotional.
Evening Devotions - Campfire/Gathering - We will gather around a campfire and share, sing, and laugh together.  We will reflect on the joys, challenges, incites, and memories of the day, thanking God for all that we learned and experienced.

Gear/Equipment
Back to Index
What will my group need to bring to an Adventure?
All gear needed for an adventure is provided, in most cases the most an individual needs to bring is personal clothing and footwear. Check Out Packing Lists for CA Trips

What kind/quality of gear does Christian Adventures have?
Equipment can make or break an outdoor adventure. As specialists in adventure recreation since 1978, we have kept up with the times to provide new, quality gear for all of our adventures.

Can an Individual bring his own gear?
Individuals (gear heads) can bring their own gear if they wish, however it must pass our strict inspection before use.  Most times CA gear is as nice if not better than what participants would bring.
